Speaking ahead of the poll, Adeleke alleged that violence had escalated in the state, claiming that lives were being lost and appealing to the President to intervene before the situation worsens.
“President Bola Tinubu, something is happening in Osun State that you need to know. Our people are being killed, and as our father, we are appealing to you. We will not accept any attempt to rig this election,” Adeleke said.
The governor reminded the President that his administration had publicly endorsed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, questioning why the state was allegedly witnessing violence despite that support.
“Mr President, I am passing this message directly to you. We have publicly endorsed you for the 2027 presidential election. What more do you want from us? Why then are our people being killed?” he asked.
Adeleke also accused the Nigeria Police Force of failing to remain neutral, alleging that officers had been compromised and were intimidating innocent residents instead of tackling insecurity.
“The police have been compromised. They should concentrate on tackling the kidnappers and other criminals troubling your administration instead of intimidating innocent people,” he alleged.
His remarks come amid rising political tension in Osun State as political parties intensify campaigns ahead of the governorship election.
